Thinking About Moving To The Kansas City Northland?

Without a doubt, it’s safe to say the housing market has been a little crazy over the past year and a half! Anyone who has tried to buy or sell a home can likely attest to this statement. This has been the case throughout most of the country, especially right here in Kansas City. And that’s where having an experienced real estate professional comes in handy!

For anyone visiting our blog for the first time, welcome to the Small Real Estate Team. Just as it’s mentioned on our website, we are a SMALL group of agents in the Northland with BIG success stories. We understand how big of a milestone it is to purchase a new home and take pride in approaching every single transaction with the same attention to detail. And with over 50 years of experience, we feel confident in our ability to ensure it’s consistently a successful transaction.

In this week’s blog post, we’ll be taking a look at the Kansas City Northland, in particular, when it comes to the real estate market. Based out of the ReeceNichols office in Liberty, we can’t help but be amazed by just how much the Northland has grown in recent years. Whether that be Parkville, Liberty, Kearney, or anywhere else, it continues to truly be a great place to live! Throughout this blog, we’ll discuss why you may want to consider purchasing your forever home in the Kansas City Northland.

New Housing Developments

A great barometer for a growing area is when you start noticing new neighborhoods popping up all over the town. Anyone that’s lived in the Northland over the last 10 or so years knows that has certainly been the case here! While we could easily write an entire blog highlighting these various communities, we will briefly discuss one today that our team has been involved with and that is Prairie Field. This new neighborhood is located in Kearney, just off 115th and Plattsburgh Rd. It is in the Liberty School District and close in proximity to plenty of shopping and entertainment opportunities! Last, but not least, you’ll also notice there’s no shortage of talented builders in the Prairie Field subdivision either, including Hearthside Homes of Kansas City, Integrity Homes, LLC, and Fish Creek Homes. Long story short, Prairie Field is a perfect example of one of the many beautiful neighborhoods currently under construction in the Kansas City Northland.

Quality School Districts

If you’re looking for a location to find your forever home and raise a family in, one factor that will certainly come into play is the nearby schools. However, if you’re someone that’s moving in from out of town, it can be quite difficult to evaluate the quality of the different school districts. Luckily, there’s generally plenty of information that you’re welcome to research online. In addition, your real estate agent should be a helpful resource you can lean on as well. After all, they’ll likely know the different neighborhoods, schools, and so on as well as anyone!

In terms of this blog focusing on the Northland though, you can rest assured knowing that your kiddos will have no trouble getting an A+ education here. As was the case with the new housing developments mentioned above, we could likely write a complete blog post on any of these awesome school districts, but we’ll focus on a few of the main points here.

Liberty School District – It goes without saying that the Liberty School District has experienced significant growth over the past decade. With this growth, they have also consistently been recognized for high academic performance and exceptional graduation rates. To learn more about their individual recognitions, click HERE to check out their website.

Park Hill School District – Another popular school district in the Northland is Park Hill. Here, families have access to a number of quality elementary and middle schools, as well as two top-notch high schools in Park Hill High School and Park Hill South High School. Much like the Liberty School District, Park Hill has also been growing steadily in recent years and now has nearly twelve thousand students enrolled!

As I mentioned above, there’s certainly plenty of interesting information when it comes to these various highly-acclaimed school districts. We only discussed Liberty and Park Hill above, but a couple others to consider include North Kansas City and Kearney.

Close to the Airport, Downtown and Plenty of Entertainment

Whenever someone is evaluating markets to buy a home in, one of the first things that comes to mind is what all there is to do nearby. While every buyer is unique, people looking for more of a “city feel” probably aren’t going to want to drive 25-30 minutes to eat at their favorite restaurant. We’ve already touched on this topic a few times already, but it goes without saying that the Northland has been one of the fastest-growing areas in the entire Kansas City area. We discussed the award-winning school districts and talented builders above, but when it comes to other entertainment, you’ll have no trouble with that either. So, what all are you a short drive from in the Kansas City Northland?

Airport – Particularly for those that are frequent travelers, living close to the airport can be a definite perk. Even with the Prairie Field subdivision mentioned above, which is in Kearney, you’re still only 20 minutes away.

Downtown – Whether it be taking in a show at the T-Mobile Center, checking out Crown Center or hanging out at the Power & Light District, downtown Kansas City is filled with plenty of fun activities. Living in the Northland puts you within a short commute from there as well!

Shopping, Dining and More – To cap it off, who doesn’t love having a plethora of shopping, dining and various other entertainment opportunities? In terms of shopping, a few names that instantly come to mind include Downtown Parkville, Zona Rosa and Briarcliff. For food, you can choose from various upscale restaurants, as well as different options for quick bites as well. Not to mention, the entire area is still growing as well, so who knows what will come next!
